Student Bus Transportation Regulations Students who ride school buses are expected to follow the school bus transportation regulations: - Middle and High School Student I.D. cards or bus passes will be needed to board any school bus.
- Student staying for any after-school activity must have a signed bus pass, provided by an advisor, coach, supervisor or administrator, in order to board any school bus.
- Students should be at the bus stop five (5) minutes before the school bus arrives and must be well mannered while waiting for the school bus.
- Students must observe good rules of safety when walking to and from the school bus stop.
- Students must respect the private property where the school bus stop is located.
- Students must not stand in the street while waiting for the school bus to arrive.
- (Students must remember to look both ways before crossing a street when boarding or departing the bus.)
- Students must board and depart the school bus in a single file. Running or pushing is prohibited.
- Students must obey the school bus driver. The bus driver is in charge and must be respected at all times.
- Students must sit in assigned seats. Standing or changing seats is not permitted. Seatbelts must be worn when available.
- Students may not distract the bus driver while the bus is moving. Students must keep their voice at a low level and no shouting, whistling or unacceptable language is permitted. Unnecessary conversation with the bus driver is not permitted. No “rough housing,” pushing, slapping, or throwing of any objects is permitted on the school bus.
- Students may not open or close windows without permission of the driver.
- Students must keep all body parts inside the school bus at all times.
- Students may not place any object in the aisle of the school bus, such as book bags, coats, etc.
- Students may not leave trash or rubbish on the bus and throwing objects out of the bus is prohibited.
- Students may not eat on the bus.
- Students must remain seated on the bus at all times (until the bus comes to a complete stop).
Students in violation of any regulations will face the following disciplinary action(s): - 1st Violation – A written warning will be issued by the bus driver. The building principal, following the Student Code of Conduct, will take disciplinary action.
- 2nd Violation – The building principal, following the Student Code of Conduct, will take disciplinary action and in addition a five (5) day suspension of bus transportation privileges.
- 3rd Violation – The building principal, following the Student Discipline Conduct Code, will take disciplinary action, and in addition, bus privileges will be terminated for the remainder of the school year.
Students are responsible for their actions from the time they leave home until the time they return home. They will be subject to the regulations provided in the School Disciplinary Code, and where applicable, to civil and/or criminal penalties for violations. ****** SAFETY FIRST ****** Students involved in a sport or after school event must ride home on the scheduled activity bus or arrange for transportation home. Zero Tolerance Violations Students may not use profane language directed to any school bus driver. Students may not harass or bully another student. Fighting on the school bus is a violation of school regulations that can lead to school suspension, arrest and charges being filed. Students in violation of any of the “zero tolerance regulations” will face the following disciplinary action(s): - 1st Violation – The building principal in accordance with the Student Discipline Conduct Code, will take disciplinary action, and in addition, student bus privileges will be suspended for a period up to five (5) days.
- 2nd Violation – The building principal in accordance with the Student Discipline Conduct Code, will take disciplinary action, and in addition, student bus privileges will be suspended for a period up to ten (10) days.
- 3rd Violation – The building principal, following the Student Discipline Conduct Code, will take disciplinary action, and in addition, bus privileges will be terminated for the remainder of the school year.
