Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome back to the Winslow Township School District and a new academic year. I hope you enjoyed a safe and restful summer vacation. Whether your child is returning to familiar classrooms or entering into a new one, the start of a new school year will be an opportunity for them to set goals, embrace new challenges, and reconnect with their friends and teachers.
During the summer, many of our teachers and staff were engaged in various professional development activities to hone their skills to ensure your child has a successful year. This school year, we will focus on creating a positive and inclusive school environment for your child, where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported. We expect every student to actively engage in all classes, ask questions, and to not be afraid to make mistakes, as they are all essential parts of the learning process.
Our primary objective again this year is to place greater emphasis on student achievement. We are asking parents for support by making sure that students come to school prepared to learn, and that we hold them accountable for their behavior and decisions they make. We cannot allow student behavior to dictate the quality of our education. The Student Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced and all students will be dealt with accordingly.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our new Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Sheresa Clement, who previously served as our Director of Curriculum and Instruction. We also welcome two new Assistant Principals: Ms. Roberta Ripp at School No. 4 and Ms. Cynthia Stewart-Dixon at Schools No. 1 and No. 2. Additionally, Ms. Lauren Lee (School No. 5), Mr. Jamil McEnnis (School No. 6), and Ms. Alexandra Gonzalez (School No. 3) are now full-time at their respective schools. At Schools No. 5 and No. 6, we will now have two Security Officers each. Lastly, we are proud to welcome 55 new teachers and support staff to the Winslow Township School District family.
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Let’s make the 2025-2026 school year a successful one!
Sincerely,
H. Major Poteat, Ed.D., Superintendent |
