WTHS Boys Track and Field Update
The Winslow Township High School Boys Track and Field team is off to a great start! To date, they are 2-0 in the Conference, beating Cherry Hill West 105-21 and Shawnee 111-28. The Team also won championships at both the Bridgeton Relays and the Woodbury Relays.
At the Bridgeton
Relays, the young men won the 4x100, 4x200 Sprint Medley and 4x800 to earn the
Championship. The last time the team won the championship trophy was over 15
years ago.
At the Woodbury
Relays, the young men took 2nd place in the shuttle hurdles, 5th
place in the 4x200, 1st place in the 4x100 (with the second fastest
time of the day out of all groups), a win in the Sprint Medley relay, a 2nd
place finish in the 4x800, and the 4x400 team of Darrell Jackson Jr. Dominic
Bassey, Shaheem Muhummad and Jayden Poteat ran a blazing first place time of
3:20. That time is ranked number 1 in the state and was the fastest time of the
day. The last time the team won the championship trophy was 2008.
Jayden Poteat, Grade
11, had an incredible day and earned the Most Valuable Player Award at the
Woodbury Relays. Jayden, was the lead
off leg in the 4x200 (with a split of 21.2), 2nd leg in the 4x100
which helped open up the lead, lead off leg in the Sprint medley relay. Jayden
ran the 400 with a split time of 50.5 and in the 4x400 as the anchor, Jayden
got the baton in 2nd and ran a blazing split of 47.5 to help secure
the victory.
